The role of fathers





What is the role of a father?

The Bible makes it clear his responsibility is to
Teach their children about God and God standard for life.

When it comes to serving God
This is your most important job as a father.

Fathers represent our heavenly fathers on this earth

They should be the spiritual leaders they are called to be.





1.Fathers are blessed by their children

King James
Psalms 127:3- 5
This speaks to you fathers
3.  Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4.  As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5.  Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Proverbs 17:6
  This speaks to your grandfather’s
Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

Proverbs 17:6 
An old man's grandchildren are his crowning glory. A child's glory is his father.



2.Fathers are to have compassion on their children

Psalms 103:13 
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.



3.Fathers are to train their children to obey God

Proverbs 22:6 
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Fathers do not point out every little mistake their children make
This will drive them to anger or to a lack of confidence in themselves
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.



4.Fathers bring God blessing on their children

Deuteronomy 11:26 – 28
Teach  your children it is a blessing to obey God
26.  Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
27.  A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day:
28.  And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other Gods, which ye have not known.

5.Fathers are to correct their children

Proverbs 3:12
Fathers correct your children if you love them. 
For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Punishment is nothing more than a learning tool 
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Correction will not kill your children

If you want peace in your life with your children
You need to correct them

6.Fathers are to love their wives

Ephesians 5:25 
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it



7.Fathers are to provide for their families

1 Timothy 5:8 
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.



8.Fathers have been given a big job!
  But you do not have to do it alone…..

         You can ask for help from God………

James 1:5 
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

With God help you can become the father you need to become.
Fathers remember this the Bible says in the book of:
Matthew 19:26  But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
It may seem impossible to you.
But with God he can make you the father you need to become.
