The great cover-up of the church.

What is the great cover up and the church?
The great cover up in the church is unforgiven sin.
But the Bible teaches us that we are to seek out forgiveness from God.
Sin the Bible says can and will destroy  your life.
Sin can and will stop God from hearing your prayers
Its not because God does not want to answer your prayers.
It’s because sin separates us from God’s presence.

So many times we do not realize the importance of seeking Gods forgiveness in our lives.
Unforgiven sin is one of the biggest hindrances to a Christians life.
It can and will hinder your prayer life.
It will and can stop you from receiving your healing if you’re sick in your life.
Unforgiven sin will and can stop your prayers for your unsaved loved ones.
And you know that this is one of the most important prayers that you want to get answered
Is for those people in your family and all the other people that you are praying for so they can get saved.

But if we have unforgiven sin God cannot hear us.
You might ask why?

Lets  think about this for a minute.
When we as Christian sin what does that make us?
Answer: it makes those people that has sinned sinners.
This is why we need to check our lives on a daily basis for sin.
Some people may believe that grace covers our sins.
Well it does but the Bible says we need to confess our sins to God in order that they can and will be forgiven.

Let’s take a look at what the Bible says about covering up our sins and what we should do about it.

Let’s begin in the book of:

Proverbs 28:13
He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

I do not think that there is one person that does not want to prosper.
But sin will stop them from being able to prosper.
And this does not mean just financial.
It talking about financial ,physical ,mental ,spiritual and every other area that you can think of in your life.
Sin can and will stop you  from receiving these breakthroughs in your life.

Confession breaks the stronghold of the enemy in your life.
Forgiveness of our sins allows us to get back on course with what God wants in our lives.

There are some people in the Bible that struggled with taking responsibility for their actions.
Sometimes our actions creates sin and we become afraid to take responsibility for our own sins
Here is an example of someone who could not take responsibility for their own sins

Genesis 3:12-13
12  Then the man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.''
13  And the Lord God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?'' And the woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate.''

Adam was one of these person that have a problem with accepting responsibility for his own actions and otherwise known as sin.

If you look at the story Eve brought Adam a piece of  the tree that God told Adam not to eat of.
And when God showed up Adam did not want to take responsibility for his own sin.
He did what a lot of people do sometimes he blamed someone else for his own mistakes or sins.
And this was one of his biggest mistakes in life.
But God knows when we sin just like he knew when Adam sinned.
And just like Adam we would have to ask for forgiveness.

And learn from what the Bible teaches us in the book of Genesis about Adam
Don’t blame others for your own sins.

Take responsibility for your own sin and allow forgiveness to releasel you from the bondage of it.

You cannot hide center sin from God he knows what you’re doing 24 –7.
Just like when Cain killed his brother Able god knew about it
And Cain tried to hide it from God.
But like us sometimes we forget God sees everything and hears everything we do.

In the book of:
Genesis 4:9
Then the Lord said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?'' And he said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?''

You can see Cain tried to cover up any knowledge about his brother and what he had done to him.
We need to realize that we cannot cover our sin in the sight of God.

But we can ask for forgiveness of God and he will forgive us
Remember the Bible says that he is quick to forgive.

Don’t try to hide your sins from God ,you can’t ,God love you and he really does want to forgive you.

We sometimes hide the sins that we do.
We don’t think that it is important to seek out forgiveness from God.
But that is the farthest thing from the truth.

Without forgiveness we will carry the burden of our sins until we face God on judgment day.
Seek out forgiveness while you have the chance.

The book of Matthew in some ways warns us not to worry about our outward appearance in the sight of others  but rather worry about the inward spiritual man.

This is what God looks at, is the inside of a man.
We can all look the part of a Christian.
We can act the part of a Christian.
And we can fool some people.
But we can not fool God.

Look at what the book of Matthew says:

Matthew 23:25-28
25  "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.
26  "Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27  "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.
28  "Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

The Pharisees had a problem they looked good on the outside.
But the inside of the Pharisees were as filthy rags in the sight of God.

When we do not examine our own lives for sin this is what we looked like to God.
The filthy rags represent our sin to God.
Maybe it’s time we do our laundry and cleanup our lives.
And stop worrying about what we look like to others
And worry about what we look like to God?

The Bible says we should recognize that we do sin.
And when we do sin we need to recognize that we need forgiveness for those sins

Look at what the Bible says in:
1 John 1:8-10
8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

The truth is even as Christians we are quite capable of sin.
And that we need to acknowledge that we do sin.
Don’t allow the devil to deceive you.

We all have a sinful nature and this is the reason that God allows us to go before him and ask for forgiveness
But if we do not ask we will not receive it.

Forgiveness is a blessing from God.
Not something to fear.

The Bible talks about a woman that was caught in the act of adultery.
She was a prostitute the people that caught her wanted to make an example of her.
But Jesus is not like most people he does not want to make examples of us
But he would rather forgive us if we except him.

But like it speaks about in the book of John
Once we except we cannot go back and began to do the same things again.
When Jesus Christ releases us from sin he is giving us a whole new chance in life.
We should embrace this chance with everything we have.

Jesus asked her, Who is your accusers?
In other words there was no one there to judge her
And Jesus did not want to judge either.
But he did want to forgive her

Looked at what the book of
John 8:11 says:
She said, "No one, Lord.'' And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.''

There is one thing that we can do so that we do not have to ask for forgiveness.
Just don’t sin.

In the book of Psalms this is what it says:
Psalms 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

This is a prayer we should all pray that God will create in us a clean heart
In other words that are flesh will not lead us into sin.

And we should read this everyday of our life.

But if we do sin we have a God that is merciful enough that we can go to him and ask for forgiveness
Without fear of a rejection.

No matter what we have done God is more than able to forgive.
And more than willing.

You can say that you don’t know what I had done in my life.

But I can say you do not know the power of forgiveness and love that my God has for you.

Look at what the Bible says in:
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God is more than faithful to forgive your sin.
But we have to confess them before God in order for him to forgive them.

Remember this the Bible declares sin has no power over you because of the forgiveness of Jesus Christ and Grace.
Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

The word Dominion  means power.

Jesus Christ has come to set you free from sin
And who he sets free is free indeed

You don’t have to carry the burdens of sin any more

Just give them up to God through Jesus Christ.
