Satan the Defeated Foe
I have good news for you Jesus Christ defeated the devil for us already.
If we look into the Scriptures we will see that the devil has no power over you he has to leave you in Jesus name.
The greatest weapon that we have as Christians is God’s Word.
When we apply God’s Word in our lives we will always have the victory over Satan.
Let’s go ahead and see what Gods Word has to say about this subject: “Satan the Defeated Foe”
James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
The Bible says that we are to submit ourselves to God first.
In order for the devil to recognize who you are he has to know whom you serve.
The Bible says: “ if we draw near to God, God will get near to us”.
The closer we walk with God the more authority we will have over the devil.
Because the Bible says "light and darkness cannot abide together" it is impossible for light and darkness to exist in the same place, one or the other will dominate
It is up to you which one will dominate your life.
The Scriptures also says: “if we resist the devil he will flee”.
The devil will recognize that you will not allow him to take up residence in your life.
Just stand on the principles of God, and say no to Sin and Temptation.
All the devil can do is try to entice you to sin but if you resist him and say no, he will flee from you. It all comes down to a choice you make.
As long as you say no to the devil he will be defeated in your life.
Let’s look at the book of
Genesis 3: 13- 15
13. And the Lord God said unto the woman. What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, the serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14. And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
What the devil doesn’t realize yet is that he was defeated thousands of years ago, he just hasn’t caught on yet.
The Scripture tells us that Satan destroyed the relationship that Adam and Eve had with God.
And because of this God cursed the devil showing that God has more power than the devil.
The truth is the devil is the defeated foe.
God gave us the power over the devil in verse 15 remember what it says
15. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel
We sometimes forget had God has given us more than enough power to overcome the devil.
And to defeat him just as Jesus did.
Remember, because of what was done in the past on the cross it gives us the power to overcome the devil in the present.
Let’s continue on and see what others things scriptures tell us about defeating the devil
Isaiah 14:12
12. "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations!
13. For you have said in your heart: `I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north;
14. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.'
15. Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit.
We have to realize that God has always been more powerful than the devil.
And there is no greater demonstration of God’s power than in the book of Isaiah 14: 12-15
We have to remember who threw whom out of heaven. The devil thought he was better than God
and we can see by the scripture he wasn’t.
The devil tries to make you think he has more power then you.
But for a Christian this is not true God gave us power over the devil.
All we have to do is use it.
Remember what the Bible says in the book of:
Romans 8:31
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
As long we serve God, no one can stand against us, not even the devil.
As I write this I was thinking to myself this must really be irritating to know this now
You see he does not want you to know.
Here’s another scripture that the devil does not want you to know
In the book of
Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors
through him that loved us.
This is a great Scripture to stand on when the devil comes against you.
See the one thing we know for sure the devil knows Scriptures.
God’s Word and the Blood of Jesus and the Name of Jesus are the only things that work
against the devil.
The book of
Romans verse 8: 37 tells us we are more then conquerors through Christ Jesus
and the devil knows this.
When we stand on the Word of God we are conquerors, we can never defeat the devil in the flesh
because he is a Spiritual being so we have to use Spiritual Warfare Weapons, like the Word of God.
Everyone from time to time is tempted by the devil
Even Jesus was tempted by the devil.
Look at the Scriptures
Luke 4:1-12
1. Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into
the wilderness,
2. being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they
had ended, He was hungry.
3. And the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.''
4. But Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, `Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every
word of God.' ''
5. Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6. And the devil said to Him, "All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I
give it to whomever I wish.
7. "Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.''
8. And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, `You shall worship the
Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.' ''
9. Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are
the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here.
10. "For it is written: `He shall give His angels charge over You, to keep You,'
11. "and, `In their hands they shall bear You up, lest You dash Your foot against a stone.' ''
12. And Jesus answered and said to him, "It has been said, `You shall not tempt the Lord your God.' ''
The one thing that the Scriptures say, is that when Jesus was tempted he used Scriptures to defeat the devil.
We have to do the same thing that Jesus did, we have to learn how to use Scriptures to defeat the devil just as Jesus did.
This is the reason we need to read our Bibles it is our defense against the devil.
Without the Word we are defenseless. God gave us his Word to use it to defeat the devil.
God did not leave us weaponless, when we speak his Word it will defeat the devil but if we don’t know it we won’t be able to use it.
If you want to defeat the devil in your life learn the Word.
It is your only hope to defeat him.
God gave us his Word
Use It…
